Objects Moving at a Constant Speed in Circular Motion are Not Accelerating
The final misconception that I have found students commonly have is that if speed is constant during circular motion there is no acceleration. To help them overcome this the teacher could try the following:
- Clarify the difference between scalar and vector
- Is speed scalar or vector?
- Is velocity scalar or vector? Acceleration?
- If direction is changing is the vector changing?
