Lesson 3: Frames of Reference
Show students 2 videos of a plane flying. The first is from the viewpoint of a person in the plane, the second from someone watching the plane from the ground. For each video have students describe the motion the are experiencing. This can be done in small groups or individually.
Class discussion on frames of reference. Using the examples in the video the teacher can help students to understand frames of reference. Problems and other examples should be given.
Have students complete a simple sample problem and have them hand it in for the end of class. This will allow the teacher to gauge students' understanding of the concept.
